3 Tips Women In Business Can Use To Conquer Their Fears

Studies show that women in business are much more likely to fear the unknown than men in business. Perhaps it is because traditionally women are brought up to be the caretakers and therefore must be the anticipators of danger. Men (the hunters), are nurtured to go out and look for trouble and, in too many instances be the cause of it.
Women in business must respect the fact that they worry way too much about things that, for the most part, never transpire. This fact is another reason, generally, women are less risk averse than men. Waiting for the sky to fall like Chicken Little keeps many women from moving from the startup phase of their business to the growth stage.
So, here are three tips women in business can use to conquer their fears.
1) Analyze your attitude. Reveal to yourself what your inner tapes tell you on a regular basis. For example: no woman in my family has ever made it in her own business. Or, I'm not smart enough or willing enough to take chances to be successful. Or, no matter how hard I try I never seem to get ahead.
Now: Rewrite those inner tapes. I will be the successful role model businesswoman for my family to follow. And, hard work pays off and learning by doing is how I'll achieve success. And, practice makes perfect. I learn from my mistakes and know that I must experience failure in order to know what success feels like.
2) Commit to a new behavior. Be clear as to what craving your old behavior fills. Find constructive ways to fill the craving and then visualize yourself doing it.
Now: Remind yourself regularly that in order to get a new result you must make a conscious choice to change your behavior. Doing the same things over and over again and expecting a new result is defined as insanity. You aren't insane because you started a business. You just need to believe in yourself, commit to change and take action.
3) Say the Serenity Prayer. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Now: Make a list of the things that you cannot change that are affecting your business. (the weather, a 24 hour day, 7 days in the week, someone else's behavior etc). Make a list of the things you CAN change in your business and how you CAN change them with your new found courage and wisdom.
Women in business can conquer their fears about building a business one step at a time by putting one foot in front of the other and seeing themselves as winners. It all begins by refusing to accept your fears and challenging yourself to be the success you want to be.
