Shared Leadership for the Future
Labor Day is over and the kids have gone back to school. It's time for you to get back out there and start networking.
There is an old childish expression which was used on the playground to demean others, but today is apropos for women entrepreneurs "It takes one to know one".
All entrepreneurs must realize that to win in business one must be focused on success 24/7. This does not mean, however, to keep your head down and isolate yourself in your business. Both men and women entrepreneurs must be committed to self-improvement in all mental, spiritual, emotional and physicial aspects while on the entrepreneurial journey. Here are 4 simple tips for women entrepreneurs, particularly, to follow which will lead to greater success.
Women in business must know how to sell themselves as well as their product and/or service. One only has to take a look around to see that women in the entertainment world have caught on to this very quickly. Lady Gaga intentionally creates a look that causes attention. Laugh if you like, but this lady is laughing all the way to the bank. Her music may not stay on top forever, but her look will last longer in costume and fashion stores across the world. She is new to the game, however, that may have been started by women who kept their brand alive while their fame faded.
Social media is all the rage for small business owners and entrepreneurs but all the tweeting and posting on Facebook can never take the place of good old-fashion networking. People continue to do business with people they know, like and trust and the best way to get to know someone is to do the tried and true meet and greet. Fortunately, sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook have made it easier to find out what your connection might be to the someone you want to meet. Some call it the six degrees of separation, yet, I find that I am able to connect with just about anyone within three connections. Knowing how your connections get you to that important someone is critical to your success at networking. Even with all the extra assistance on the internet for networking, you won't have an advantage if you don't know the basic networking principles.
